Aficionados of literature are invited to celebrate the “makeover issue” of Laredo Community College’s literary magazine, La Frontera, on Thursday, Nov. 30.
The college’s latest issue of La Frontera will be distributed at a reception, which starts at 2 p.m. in the Arena Theater, located inside the Adkins Building.
The magazine’s new editor, LCC English instructor Victoria Rodriguez, looks forward to unveiling the revamped college publication.
“The popularity of makeover shows on television has reached our campus, and we’ve given our magazine (La Frontera) a new look,” Rodriguez said.
She added, “While we’ve changed our appearance, we are still dedicated to publishing student work.”
The new issue features poetry in English and Spanish, as well as an assortment of short stories, including one whose ending will be published in the next issue, Rodriguez said.
A new feature in this edition of La Frontera is a “Featured Writer” section, which focuses on works done by published writers.
The magazine’s first featured writer is Laredo native and LCC alum Rose M. Rodriguez-Rabin, an English professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
