This spring, fans of rock music can heighten their knowledge of this genre by enrolling in a new course at Laredo Community College – MUSI 1310, the History of Rock and Roll (American Music).
The course, which will be taught by LCC music instructor Dr. Cain Budds, will enhance the music lover’s passion for this topic through reading, listening and discussion of Rock and Roll and certain related elements of American jazz.
“Students also will develop their listening skills by hearing various musical compositions from important contributing musical artists,” Budds said. “The course is open to anyone interested in learning more about this amazing and varied topic.”
Dr. Budds said that the course will be primarily lecture-based, but that there also will be room for discussion and for student presentations.
Budds added that he is excited and looking forward to teaching this class in January.
“I grew up with Rock and Roll music, played it and have lived it! I am, as all of us are and have been, experiencing the evolution of rock music on a continuous basis,” Budds said.
The course will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:50 p.m. at the LCC main campus.
