Early voting for city, state and federal elections is conducted at Laredo Community College now through Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Kazen College Center lobby.  Early voting is open to eligible Webb County voters.  For more information, call 523-4050.

 

An art collection of art jewelry, functional objects and holloware that uses organic qualities, game-like attributes and gender characteristics to convey human relationships and sacred love is on display at Laredo Community College through Nov. 2.  Admission to view the exhibit is free during the hours of operation for the LCC Art Teaching Gallery.  For more information, call 721-5224.

 

An exhibit of architectural and computer aided drawings is on display at the Yeary Library at Laredo Community College through October.  The works are by students and faculty in the LCC Computer Aided Drafting and Design program.  Admission is free to view the exhibit during the library’s hours of operation.  For more information, call 721-5281.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2006

Jeff Mandel, one of the country’s premier sketch artists, draws caricatures of Laredo Community College South students from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Billy Hall Student Center.  Students can obtain a sketched caricature from Mandel free of charge with a valid LCC ID card.  Mandel will visit the LCC main campus on Wednesday, Oct. 25.  For more information, call 721-5179.

 

Laredo Community College suits up for a new role in global economics with the grand opening of the International Trade Institute of the Americas at 6 p.m. in the De la Garza Building, room 101.  Business leaders and community are invited to the formal celebration for the ITIA, which includes a keynote address by U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar.  For more information, call 721-5110.

The stage curtain opens for the classic Gilbert and Sullivan comedy opera “The Gondoliers” at Laredo Community College.  Students from the Laredo and United independent school districts are treated to a morning performance of the LCC Opera Workshop production at 9 a.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center theater.  Evening performances open to the community are Oct. 26-28 at 7:30 p.m.; admission is $5.  For more information, call 721-5330.

Go Palominos!  The Laredo Community College volleyball team hosts a crucial conference match against the San Jacinto College Ravens at 2 p.m. in the Maravillo Gymnasium.  Admission is free of charge.

Bring the entire family for a SPOOK-tacular time at Laredo Community College South.  The LCC Criminal Justice Club hosts a Halloween Haunted Dungeon from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Protective Services Building, located on the north side of the south campus.  Admission is $1 at the door with proceeds benefiting the student club.
