
Laredo Community College suits up for a new role in the arena of global economics with the grand opening of the International Trade Institute of the Americas (ITIA) Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. in the De la Garza Building, room 101.
Business leaders and community are invited to celebrate the opening of the ITIA, a new hub for the advancement of economic development.
The ceremony includes a keynote address delivered by U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar.
ITIA Director Jose F. Reyes said that guests also will be able to tour the facilities, meet the staff and learn how this innovative college initiative can help area industry obtain the tools and skills needed to compete in a global environment.
“The International Trade Institute of the Americas is an organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing economic development through the latest in computer technology and automation, databases, seminars, distinguished speaker presentations and much more,” Reyes said.
Additionally, the ITIA is poised to offer a valuable tool to connect area industry with the world.
“As a leader in videoconferencing technology, Laredo Community College plans to offer ITIA membership with the advantage of establishing major connections with the world,” Reyes said.
The annual fee for businesses to become an ITIA member is $100.
ITIA offices are located in the De la Garza Building, room 105.
