LCC's 'Day of Dialogue' on November 30

Local and area school counselors are invited to attend Laredo Community College's 20th annual "Day of Dialogue" on Tuesday, November 30, from 8:00 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Billy Hall Student Center at LCC South.

This year's event, co-sponsored by LCC and the South Texas Tech Prep Program, will offer a special showcase of the new LCC South campus, located at 5500 South Zapata Highway.

"Day of Dialogue is an opportunity for participating counselors to become acquainted with the latest developments at Laredo Community College.  We are pleased to host this year’s event at the new LCC South campus, where participants will be able view the new facilities, hear presentations by faculty members and administrators on the programs available exclusively at the new campus, as well as receive valuable updates on other popular programs of study," explained Vocational Counselor Ramiro Rodriguez.

Registration will be from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at the Community Suite in the Hall Student Center. LCC President Dr. Ramón H. Dovalina and Vice-President for Instruction and Student Development Dr. Juan L. Maldonado and Dean of LCC South Francisco Martinez will offer welcoming remarks at 8:30 a.m.

The event will continue with short presentations by department chairs from Allied Health, Business and Management, Nursing, Math, Kinesiology and LCC South Programs, including Protective Services, Industrial Trades, Child Development, and Computer Electronics.

Participants will then have an opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art facilities.

The event will conclude with a staff development presentation for counselors, entitled “How Present and Future Labor Market Trends Can Affect Students’ Career Choices.”  The presenter will be Candy Slocum, Executive Director of Interlink.
