Financial Aid, Special Populations, and Employment Assistance Center; Laredo National Bank; South Texas Tech Prep and Texas Workforce Center.
The event featured information on college programs, federal financial assistance, scholarships, grants, loans and other ways to get money for college.
Assistance was also available to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
Short presentations by financial experts were presented every half hour. Credit management, financial aid, and debt management were covered among other topics.

The national ENLACE program, which stands for ENgaging the LAtino Communities for Education, designated 13 communities in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, New Mexico, New York and Texas as recipients of $28 million in grant money to fund initiatives aimed at retaining and graduating Hispanic students from high school. The local goal is to increase the number of Hispanics attending and graduating from a four-year college or university.
ENLACE is derived from the Spanish word enlazar, which means to link or to weave together. The three key components of ENLACE are a common vision for a brighter future for Latino youth, collaborative work in coalitions and a focus on strengthening public school-university-community partnerships. ENLACE is funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Houston Endowment, Inc.
Texas State University at San Marcos leads the statewide initiative. Locally, C-STEP is at LCC. For more information, contact C-STEP Promotora Sandra Rodriguez at LCC by calling 721-5218 or by e-mail at srodriguez@laredo.edu.
