
LCC graduates 28 nurses
The Laredo Community College Nursing Program hosted a special pinning and graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 6, to recognize 28 students for completing the two-year Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program.
The traditional ceremony was held for the first time in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center auditorium. Friends and family of the graduates, as well as the public attended.
Mistress of Ceremonies was Carolyn Otero, Program Coordinator. Laura Liendo and Martha A. Alonzo were the student speakers.
During the ceremony, student achievement was recognized with the presentation of the Mary Alice Lopez Award to Martha Alonzo and the Merit Award to Chad Johnson.
Graduates for the Associate Degree in Nursing are: Abigail Alonzo, Martha A. Alonzo, Diana G. Amaro, Silvia Avila, Melissa S. Calderon, Griselda Canales, Veronica Casiano, Victor Hugo Coronado, Carlos De Hoyos, Ricardo Delgado, Melanie Evans, Ruben D. Fuentes, Thelma Ginn, Marisol Gonzalez, Evangelina Guerra, Chad E. Johnson, Juan Lerma, Laura Liendo, Jose Martinez, Jr., Max Morales, II, Blanca E. Ortiz, Ruben Quintana, Stephanie A. Quiroz, Jorge Luis Ramirez, Gilberto M. Saldivar, Jose A. Santos, Adriana Sifuentes and Wendy Suarez.
The Associate Degree Nursing Program at LCC is fully accredited by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners (BNE) and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
The Associate Degree Nursing program at LCC prepares graduates for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Students implement the nursing process with client care in a structured health care setting. The students participate in hands-on clinical experience at the two local hospitals and at other sites throughout the community.
The college is currently accepting applications from prospective students for fall 2004 admission to the ADN program. Applications for admission to the program are available at the LCC ADN Office, located in Lopez Nursing Building, room 126. Admission to the program is competitive and based on specific admission criteria. The deadline to submit applications for fall 2004 admission is Thursday, May 27, before 5 p.m.
