Laredo Community College students, faculty and staff will have an opportunity to become life savers by becoming donors for a community-wide blood drive hosted by the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center on Wednesday, April 28, at the LCC campus.
The campus community and the public are invited to participate in the blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Kazen College Center.
The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center of San Antonio has received a positive response from the LCC community in the past years that the nonprofit organization has held blood drives on campus.
"It's commendable how Laredo Community College students, faculty and staff continuously show their commitment to worthy projects such as this one," says Health Services Coordinator Carmen Garcia.
"The college hopes to see another good turnout at the upcoming blood drive."
To donate blood, the donor should be 17 years or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. Donors will also need to present appropriate identification. They should also drink plenty of fluids before and after donating. Eat at least four hours before donating.
