MONDAY, MARCH 8, 2004

The Program and Policy Committee of the Laredo Community College Board of Trustees will meet at 12 noon in Laird Hall, room 124.  The public is invited.  For more information, call 721-5101.

 

Candidates can file for a place on the Laredo Community College Board Election ballot. The application is available online at www.laredo.edu/elections or from the college’s presiding elections officer, located in the LCC Administrative Annex Building, room 101.  Office hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.  The deadline to file an application is March 15 before 5 p.m.  For more information, call 721-5825.

 

The Laredo Community College Continuing Education Department is offering a selection of fast track personal enrichment and career building courses, including new classes at LCC South.  To view the Spring 2004 Class Schedule, go online to www.laredo.edu/ce or call 721-5374.

 

An exhibition, entitled “Mapping Destinations,” by E.C. Cunningham is on display at the Laredo Community College Art Teaching Gallery through March 24.  Gallery hours are Mondays from 12 to 2 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 12 noon to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free of charge.  For more information, call 721-5224.

Laredo Community College will host a national live videoconference on “The Great Health Debate,” featuring the authors and top representatives of the Atkins Diet, The Zone Diet and the Dr. Dean Ornish Program, among others.  The broadcast will be shown at 6 p.m. at the de la Garza Building, room 101.  Admission is free and open to students.  For more information, call 721-5179.

Laredo Community College students will learn about keeping safe this spring break during the annual Spring Break Community Fair from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the Kazen College Center.  Informative literature, a comedy show, non-alcholic “mocktails” and much more will be available.  Admission is free and open to LCC students.  For more information, call 721-5179.

 

As part of the Spring Break Safe and Sober Road Trip, the LCC Student Advisory Board will present national campus entertainer Bernie McGrenahan and his “Happy Hour” comedy show, a popular program addressing high-risk drinking among students.  Admission is free.  For more information, call 721-5179.
