LCC Calendar for August 9-13, 2004

 

MONDAY, AUGUST 9, 2004

Today is the last day of early registration for the Fall 2004 semester at Laredo Community College’s two campuses at West End Washington Street and 5500 South Zapata Highway.  Students who took advantage of early advisement and those who are exempt from advisement may register via the college’s On Line Enrollment (OLÉ) system at http://ole.laredo.edu or by phone at 721-5100.  The deadline to pay tuition and fees is August 18 before 5 p.m. at the LCC Bursar’s Office.   For more information, call 721-5109.

 

Registration is underway for a free English as a Second Language class, which will be offered at Laredo Community College South, 5500 South Zapata Highway.  The class is free and open to TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) recipients who want to improve their English language skills.  The class starts September 7.  For more information, call 794-4539 or 721-5436. 

 

Laredo Community College is conducting registration for a Substitute Teacher course, which meets August 11 and 12 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  For more information, call 721-5373.

 

Laredo Community College is currently enrolling high school students to the Upward Bound college prep program through August 31.  Students beginning their freshmen, sophomore or junior years at Laredo or United ISD schools are invited to apply at the Lerma Peña Learning Center, room 120 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 5:30 p.m.  The program is free and open to first generation, college-bound students.  For more information, call 721-5238.

Laredo Community College is conducting enrollment for children—ages 2, 3 and 4—to the new Camilo Prada Child Development Center this fall.  The Prada Center is located at LCC South, 5500 South Zapata Highway.  Vacancies are on a first-come, first-served basis for the children of LCC students, college employees and the public.  For tuition and fees information or to enroll your child, call 794-4561.

 

The Webb County Head Start program welcomes parents to enroll their 3-, 4- and 5-year olds to the Little Palomino Head Start center located on the Laredo Community College campus.  Priority is given to students and employees of LCC, but the public is encouraged to apply.  The head start program is free of charge to eligible children.  For more information, call 722-9858 or 795-1515.
