MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2004

The Camilo Prada Child Development Center of Laredo Community College is open and enrolling 2-, 3- and 4-year old children.  Parents are invited to learn more about this opportunity by attending an Open House, now through September 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.  For more information, call 794-4561.

 

Tickets for a Laredo Community College concert fundraiser featuring Grammy nominated Mariachi Sol De Mexico de Jose Hernandez are available at the LCC Bursar’s Office and Guadalupe Music Shop.  The concert, part of LCC’s first-ever Viva el Mariachi! Festival and Competition, will be on October 30 at 7 p.m. at the LCC Martinez Fine Arts Center.  The opening act will be Los Arrieros de Laredo.  For more information, call 721-5140.

The South Texas Writing Project launches its annual Fall Conference for area educators at 7 p.m. in the Kazen College Center.  Highlights of today’s conference include a keynote presentation by noted author/educator Dr. Harry Noden and a reception for conference participants.  The conference continues on Saturday with workshops in a variety of topics relating to the art of writing.  For more information, call STWP Director Lucinda Farrokh at 721-5491.

The Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra launches the first concert of its 25th Silver Anniversary at 4 p.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center of Laredo Community College.  Individual concert tickets are $25 per adult or $12 for senior citizens.  All TAMIU and LCC students are admitted free with student ID, as will local high school and elementary students.
