Cardboard for recycling at LCC South

Laredo Community College officials say the process to install new furniture, classroom and office equipment in the LCC South Campus will generate a significant amount of recyclable cardboard. The college will make this recyclable material available to the public on a first-come, first served basis.

Anyone interested in obtaining the cardboard should call 721-5416 to arrange a time for pick-up.  LCC South is located at 5500 South Zapata Highway (US Highway 83).

“Persons must use a pick-up truck and must make arrangements in advance,” said Dean of Second Campus Planning Francisco Martinez, Jr.

Laredo Community College is implementing this project to promote the benefits of recycling and to save taxpayers’ money, Martinez said.

The LCC South Campus is scheduled to open on March 1 with community education, workforce and police academy classes.  A full slate of college credit courses will be offered at the new campus beginning in the fall 2004 semester.

Seven buildings will house all the programs needed to acquire an Associate of Arts and most Associate in Science Degrees, plus specialized training programs in Automotive Technology, the LCC Regional Police Academy, Computer Electronics Technology and Child Development.
