LCC, VMT School to host cinco de mayo concert
Laredo Community College and the Vidal M. Trevino Magnet School will celebrate a Mexican holiday with traditional dances and music during a special “cinco de mayo” concert on Wednesday, May 5.
The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center theater on campus. Admission is free and open to the public from the two Laredos.
“Laredo Community College is excited to serve as the host for this unique cultural collaboration between LCC and the Magnet School. It is particularly special because this is the only known event in town that will observe this important national holiday of Mexico,” said Alicia McKinnis, an adjunct dance instructor at LCC and a dance teacher with the VMT school.
The concert will feature performances by the LCC Ballet Folklorico and Flamenco Company. Also performing in the cultural affair are the VMT Flamenco and Ballet Folklorico dance troupes and the VMT Mariachi ensemble.
For more information, call the LCC Music and Dance Department at 721-5330. Office hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
