The authors and top officials of leading diet programs such as Atkins, The Zone Diet and the Dr. Dean Ornish Program will engage in a heated debate over which diet plan is best for the body during a national campus videoconference presented at Laredo Community College on Tuesday, March 9.
The Society of Success, producers of the teleconference, indicated that the national live broadcast will be shown in more than 70 college campuses nationwide, including LCC. More than 10,000 college students, faculty and staff nationwide are expected to participate in this presentation.
Locally, the LCC Student Activities Office, in conjunction with the LCC Multicultural Students Club, will present the teleconference on March 9 at 6 p.m. in the de la Garza Building. The event will include an opportunity for a live call-in during the question and answer session and literature for all attending. Admission is free.
The debate will feature Dr. Barry Sears, author of The Zone Diet; Dr. Stuart Trager, a top representative with Atkins; and Dr. Dean Ornish, author of Eat More, Weigh Less; among other distinguished representatives from some of the most popular diets in America.
Representatives of each diet program will be given the opportunity to present why they believe their plan is the best. After each diet program has been presented, the floor will be open for debate so that viewers may discover for themselves the health benefits and consequences of each of the presented diet plans.
The debate will attempt to address differences between these diets and answer common questions about their benefits.
