Tuition assistance available for LCC Early Enrolled students

This fall, Laredo Community College makes it easier for current high school students to get a head start on their college education.  Laredo and area high school juniors and seniors can receive free or discounted tuition through the LCC Early Enrollment program.

LCC will offer various college-level classes at Laredo’s seven high schools.  Depending on student demand, LCC will offer at the high schools “live” courses in English, College Algebra, History, Psychology and Sociology—all which are required in traditional college degree plans and which allow students to advance their career training.

The early enrollment program will pay for tuition and fees for students who take a three hour credit course at their high school campus.

Students who choose to enroll for a college course at the LCC campus at West End Washington Street or at the new LCC South campus at 5500 South Zapata Highway may qualify for a tuition discount.  LCC will pay $100 for a three college credit hours or $150 for six college credit hours.  In-district tuition is $162 for three college credit hours and $306 for six college credit hours.

Students from Zapata and Bruni may also qualify for tuition assistance by enrolling in distance learning courses offered by LCC.

To qualify, students must be a junior or senior in high school and must rank in the upper one-half of their class.  They must meet the state requirements to take college level courses.

They must also have permission from their high school to enroll early for college-level courses. Many area schools encourage junior and senior students to take advantage of college-level courses in order to qualify for distinguished graduation status.

Students and parents interested in the college courses available at the high schools this fall may contact their school counselors for information on early enrollment.
