LCC employees are honored Tuesday
Laredo Community College will celebrate faculty and staff achievement during the 19th annual LCC Employee Appreciation Day on Tuesday, April 27. The event will begin at 3 p.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center; campus offices will be closed during the ceremony.
“Laredo Community College is fortunate to have a group of dynamic and committed faculty and staff members who truly care about student success,” says LCC President Ramon H. Dovalina. “The college is also proud that some of these individuals serve as outstanding college ambassadors in the community.”
The awards and recognition program will begin with the announcement of faculty and staff who have retired.
Recognition will also be given to those employees who have dedicated from 5 to 45 years of service to the college. The honorees—which total 74—will receive a service pin and certificate of recognition. Manuel Blanco, a longtime instructor of English, will be recognized for 45 years of service to the college.
A special highlight of the ceremony will be the presentation of the President’s Excellence Awards, recognizing employees for outstanding service to LCC and the community. The names of this year’s award recipients will be announced during the ceremony.
The college will also honor individuals who demonstrated leadership among faculty and support staff with the presentation of the Organizational Leadership Award.
During the ceremony, some faculty and staff members will be honored for serving as sponsors for the many student clubs, organizations and publications on campus.
