The Laredo Community College Continuing Education Department has experienced an overwhelming response to the English as a Second Language (ESL) classes offered at a reduced rate, and intends to offer additional courses to meet student demand at LCC South.
LCC launched the 16-hour ESL Basic I Level course on March 1. Four class sections were initially offered at LCC South. But, due to student demand, two additional courses will be offered, beginning April 19.
The classes will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays, April 19 through May 12. The morning section will be from 9 to 11; the evening section will be from 6:30 to 8:30.
Space is still available for a class to be offered on Mondays and Wednesday, March 8-April 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. Students should note that no classes will be held from March 15 to 19 due to spring break.
The introductory ESL course is intended for students with limited English speaking skills. Instruction is focused on how to communicate more effectively in the workplace. The class is available for a fee of only $20. After April 30th, the cost for the class is $40.
