Employers sought for LCC Expo

Employers can address their immediate employment needs and provide valuable career guidance to students, alumni and community during the 2004 Laredo Community College Expo on Monday, April 19.  Exhibitor space is running out and employers are advised to register by Tuesday, April 13.

Sponsored by the LCC Employment Assistance Center, this year’s Expo is expected to accommodate 60 employers.  It will be held April 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Kazen College Center.  LCC students, alumni and community are invited to attend. Admission is free of charge.

Event Chairman Felix Gamez said more than 40 employers have already registered for the event.  Space is limited to 60 exhibitors.

Some of the major organizations participating in the event include the City of Laredo, International Bank of Commerce, Laredo National Bank, Laredo Medical Center, Doctors Hospital, Laredo Independent School District and United Independent School District.  The event will also include a strong presence of regional and federal law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security, U.S. Customs, the Attorney General’s Office and the Laredo Police Department, as well as military organizations and San Antonio hospitals.

“The LCC Expo is a unique opportunity for employers to get involved in shaping the future workforce of the region by offering qualified advice to our students on the educational requirements that they will need in order to become quality professionals in their fields,” said Gamez.

Employers can register for LCC Expo by calling 721-5461 before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13.  There is an exhibitor’s fee of $50, which covers booth accommodations and lunch for two participants.

The LCC Expo is set for April 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kazen College Center.
