A special Back to School health fair on Saturday, July 24, will be the first major community event that will be hosted on the Laredo Community College South campus, located at 5500 South Zapata Highway

The health fair will be on July 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Billy Hall Student Center at LCC South.  Admission is free of charge for the whole family.  The event is sponsored by the Laredo Medical Center, LCC South and BMP-Laredo radio stations, Digital 107.3 FM and La M 100.5 FM.

The event will feature an array of free health screenings for all ages.  Laredo Medical Center will provide screenings for cholesterol, glucose (blood sugar) and blood pressure.  The office of Dr. Sloman-Moll will provide the hearing screening.  The vision screening will be offered by Wal-Mart Vision Center.  And screening for glaucoma will be provided by Gateway Community Center.

LCC kinesiology instructors will also provide interactive exercise demonstrations to showcase some of the exciting physical education classes that will be offered at the new campus.  Some of the new fitness courses include aerobics, kickboxing and Pilates.

The LCC South Child Development Center and the Laredo Children’s Museum will also offer various children’s activities.

Refreshments will be available and door prizes will be given away.
