tournament to benefit LCC Athletics Feb. 16
Golf fanatics can have fun and support a worthy cause on President’s Day, February 16. The Laredo Community College Athletics Department invites businesses, civic organizations and Palomino fans to participate in the second annual LCC Golf Tournament benefiting college student athletes and the advancement of the college’s athletics program.
The event will be on Monday, February 16, at the Laredo Country Club. Registration starts at 11 a.m. Tee-off is at 12:45 p.m.
LCC is hosting the golf tournament with support from sponsors Sames Motor Company and Guerra Communications.
The tournament will consist of a two-man scramble with four flights.
“Proceeds from the tournament will benefit student scholarships and activities sponsored by the Laredo Community College Athletics Department,” says LCC Athletic Director Troy Van Brunt.
Trophies will be award to first, second and third place winners in each flight. Additionally, first and second place winners will receive gift certificates valid at the Laredo Country Club Golf Shop.
Event organizers added that “hole” prizes will be given to two golfers with the longest drives, and to two golfers that come closest to the pin. Prizes will also be awarded to golfers for designated hole-in-one opportunities.
Lunch will be provided, as well as botanas and door prizes during the awards ceremony.
“Last year, golf lovers and friends of the LCC Palominos came forward in full force to show their support for this worthy cause. LCC hopes to receive the same response this year,” says Van Brunt.
