Laredo Community College is advising students who register for the upcoming summer and fall semesters that they will no longer receive their course grades by mail. All LCC students are encouraged to use the information services available through the World Wide Web, which already provide unofficial transcripts, schedules, and financial aid status reports.
“We have seen more and more of our students using online services to register and obtain information on their course status, and we embrace this trend in an effort to save cost and reduce our consumption of paper,” said Dr. Juan L. Maldonado, Vice President for Instruction and Student Development.
“LCC’s enrollment has increased tremendously; we mail grades to more than 8,000 students each semester,” he said.
Student grades will be available through the LCC Website, www.laredo.edu which has a link to the student online service site, http://ole.laredo.edu.
Colleges and universities throughout the country are eliminating the cost of postage, printing supplies, and reducing their negative impact on the environment by making course grades and other student information available only through electronic forms of communication.
For those students who do not have access to a computer at home, LCC maintains open computer labs on both campuses, and has computer access available in its downtown Yeary Library and Judith Zaffirini Library at LCC South.
