Gifted students join LCC Honors Program Monday

Some of the region’s most gifted high school graduates will be formally welcomed to the Laredo Community College Honors Program on Monday, June 14, at 7 p.m. in the de la Garza Building, room 101.

The LCC Honors Program offers full scholarships and challenging academic opportunities. Monday’s signing ceremony and reception is open to students, family and friends.

Established in 1988, the LCC Honors Program is recognized for giving the region’s top students an opportunity to excel in academics, community involvement, and to enhance their leadership potential.

The Honors Program at LCC offers a progressive course of study, which provides new challenges to students with exceptional abilities.  Long-time math educator Anna Maria Mendiola is the program coordinator.

The Honors Program is affiliated with the National Collegiate Honors Council, the governing body for all college and university honors programs, including those in “Ivy League” schools.

“Through the LCC Honors Program, many of our graduates have been recruited by major universities,” says Mendiola.
