
LCC to recognize Honors achievement Tuesday
The Laredo Community College honors students and faculty will celebrate the conclusion of an exciting academic year on Tuesday, April 27. They invite the campus body and the community to explore with them some of their most memorable accomplishments.
The LCC Honors Achievement Celebration will showcase and recognize student and faculty successes during the 2003-2004 academic year. The reception will begin at 7 p.m. in de la Garza Building, room 101. Admission is free and open to the public.
Anna Maria Mendiola, a long-time math educator and coordinator for the LCC Honors Program since 1999, is proud of the continuing advancement the honors students and faculty achieved during the past school year.
“Laredo Community College is very proud of its students and the great work they do in their classes. We are equally proud of our faculty members who give so unselfishly of their time and talent to mentor and guide them,” says Mendiola.
During the Honors Achievement Celebration, the public will have an opportunity to view fascinating student research from Honors courses. Information for high school students interested in joining the LCC Honors Program will also be available.
Additionally, the Spring 2004 Honors graduates and the honors faculty will be recognized.
Established in 1988, the LCC Honors Program is recognized for giving the region’s gifted students the opportunity to excel in academics, community involvement, and to enhance their leadership potential.
The Honors Program at LCC offers full scholarship and a progressive course of study which provides new challenges to students with exceptional abilities. Honors faculty members provide students with the most stimulating educational experiences and environment possible.
