
A new exhibition of mixed media by noted Colorado artist, educator and author E.C. Cunningham will open on Thursday, March 4, at the Laredo Community College Art Teaching Gallery.
Students and art lovers are invited to view the exhibit during gallery hours. Admission is free of charge. For gallery hours, contact the LCC Art Department by calling 721-5224.
Cunningham’s exhibit consists of over 20 art pieces, including collographs, silk prints, collage and paintings. Cunningham has been a long-time professor and printmaking area coordinator at the Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado. He has authored several publications and has exhibited his work throughout the United States.
“The LCC Art Department has been fortunate to bring a seasoned art professional as E.C. Cunningham for the benefit of students and the arts in Laredo,” said LCC Art Instructor Gary Brown.
The exhibit will remain on display through March 24, when the college hosts a reception for the community to meet the artist. The reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the LCC Art Teaching Gallery.
Cunningham holds a BFA from Wichita State University and an MFA from the University of Colorado.
He is the author of H.E.L.P, Higher Education Logic for Printmaking, a 308 page book documentation of teaching philosophy, assignments and techniques, edited from 55 professional printmaking academics. His most recent publication, Book Introduction for Lynwood Kreneck, Printmaker, was published by Texas Tech University Press in March 2003.
Cunningham has had his work featured in exhibitions held in New York, Colorado, Kansas, Texas, Nebraska, Illinois, Wyoming, Indiana, West Virginia, and Michigan, among other states.
