More choices to make history at LCC

 

Early registration is underway through August 9 for students to make history and be among the first to attend Laredo Community College South. This fall, LCC South will launch its first full semester with hundreds of college courses for academic transfer, vocational/technical training and personal enrichment.

Located at 5500 South Zapata Highway, LCC South courses are listed in the LCC schedule for Fall 2004 courses which begins August 30.

“This fall, Laredo Community College South fulfills a commitment made by the college district’s board of trustees and administration to bring new educational opportunities and student services to this growing area of our community,” said LCC President Dr. Ramon H. Dovalina.

LCC South offers all the programs needed to acquire an Associate of Arts Degrees, most Associate of Science Degrees, and the first two year’s of a Bachelor’s Degree, noted Dovalina.  The new campus also offers specialized training programs in Automotive Technology, Computer Electronics Technology, Protective Services/Police Academy, and Child Development.

The LCC Fall 2004 Class Schedule is available in the Admissions/Registration offices of both campuses and online at www.laredo.edu.

Among courses available at the south campus are:

-         ARTS- Drawing and Painting for Non-Art Majors;

-         AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY- Vehicle design and structural analysis, Auto Body Welding, Basic Metal Repair, Basic Refinishing, Introduction to Theory of Auto Technology, Automotive Electrical Systems, Automotive Engine Repair, Automotive Heating and Air Conditioning, Engine Performance Analysis I and II, Automotive Electronics;

-         BIOLOGY- Biology for Non-Science Majors I, Survey of Life Science;

-         CHILD DEVELOPMENT- Curriculum Resources in Early Childhood Programs, The Infant and Toddler, Creative Arts in Early Childhood, Children With Special Needs, Math and Science in Early Childhood, Reading Programs, Families and the Community, Introduction to Early Childhood Education, Child Growth and Development;

Early registration for the fall term at LCC South continues through August 9 for students who take advantage of early advisement and for those who are eligible to self advise for classes.  Early advisement will be offered July 26 to 28 in the Billy Hall Student Center from 1 to 6 p.m.  New and returning students are encouraged to attend.
