Motivational speaker encourages student success
Laredo Community College hosted a national student videoconference on Tuesday, April 13, to help students achieve success in their lives.
The televised conference, co-sponsored by the LCC Student Activities Office and the Science Venture Club, began at 6 p.m. in the de la Garza Building, room 101. Admission was open to students.
The presenter was Patrick Combs, who is widely known as a best-selling author, motivational speaker and humorous stage performer. He is also a recognized television personality for PBS’s Career Advantage.
For over a decade, Combs has dedicated his career to helping people live with more courage, passion, inspiration and meaning.
“Achievement doesn’t come from what we do,” said Combs. “It is our personal dynamic energy field that truly matters. Science discovered every living thing has a dynamic energy field. This frequency is potentially the most powerful force in the universe.”
He continued, “Mahatma Gandhi and John F. Kennedy are both examples because their greatest power lay in the energy they stirred in people and the miracles they seemed to manifest. Miracles are everyone’s right.”
Combs has been featured in almost 1, 000 speaking engagements for business and higher education. Most recently, he won “Best Solo Comedic Performance” at the San Francisco Fringe Festival and was invited to perform in HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. He is included in the Motivational Speakers Hall of Fame, along with other noted speakers such as Zig Ziglar, Anthony Robbins and Les Brown.
