
STWP conference to feature educator-author Harry Noden
Harry R. Noden, an educator with 30 years of service and author of a popular grammar resource, will be featured in the annual Fall Conference of the South Texas Writing Project, October 1 and 2, at Laredo Community College.
Noden, author of the best-selling Image Grammar: Using Grammatical Structures to Teach Writing, will be the conference's keynote speaker on October 1 at 7 p.m. in the Kazen College Center. He will also offer two workshops on learning how to integrate grammar and writing on October 2. Advance registration is required.
Noden’s experience in English/language arts classrooms stretches from seventh grade through college. Selected by Ohio’s National Council of Teachers of English in 1996 as the state’s Outstanding Middle School Language Arts Teacher, he was also honored with the Paul and Kate Farmer Award for the best English Journal article in 1996-97.
In addition to Image Grammar, Noden has articles in The Reading Teacher, The National Writing Project Quarterly, the English Journal, and Lessons to Share on Teaching Grammar in Context. He is currently writing a young adult novel, The Immortal Game.
The conference is open to teachers, from kindergarten through college/university, and all disciplines that use writing in their classrooms. The registration fee is $35, which includes lunch.
