
Laredo Community College is offering an array of free courses that will help adults to upgrade their job skills. Professional development courses, ranging from business and trade to computer teacher education, will be delivered to students via the Internet.
During the months of February and March, the LCC Continuing Education Department, in collaboration with the FronteraTec project, will offer several online courses focusing on ways to improve job performance in various professional occupations.
The Internet courses, available free of charge on a first-come, first-serve basis, include:
· * Special Topics in Business and Professional Presentations (Feb. 9-27)
· * Systems Approach to Classroom Assessment (Feb. 9-27)
· * Special Topics in Computer Teacher Education (Feb. 9-March 5)
* Intro to International Business and Trade (Feb. 9-March 5)
* International Information Systems (Feb. 9-March 5)
* General Health Professional Management (Feb. 9-March 5)
* Intro to Electronic Spreadsheets (March 1-12)
* Communications Skills for the Workplace: Assertive Communication (March 1-12)
* Employee Performance Review (March 29-April 12)
To register for these free courses, call the LCC Continuing Education Department at 721-5374 or go online to www.laredo.edu/ce. Registration forms are also available at the Laredo ISD and United ISD Human Resources Departments. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 4, by 5 p.m.
In addition to the free courses, LCC is also offering a WebCT basic training for online instruction. Prospective students should contact the LCC Continuing Education Department for the tuition fee.
