Tickets sales for a special concert at Laredo Community College featuring Grammy-nominated Jose Hernandez y Su Mariachi Sol de Mexico continue at LCC and Guadalupe Music Shop.
The Mariachi Sol de Mexico concert will be held on Saturday, October 30 at the LCC Martinez Fine Arts Center. The opening act will be Los Arrieros de Laredo. The concert sponsor is Paul Young Auto Mall.
Tickets for the concert fundraiser may be purchased at the LCC Bursar’s Office, located in Memorial Hall (formerly University Hall), room 121. Office hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Tickets are also available at Guadalupe Music Shop, located at 2101 Guadalupe. Ticket prices start at $35. Proceeds benefit music education and student scholarships at LCC.
Billed as America's Premier Mariachi, Mariachi Sol de Mexico has performed around the world and their music has been featured on major motion pictures, such as "Don Juan de Marco." In 2001, the group was nominated for a Grammy for their CD, “Tequila con Limon.” They have recorded with the most respected and recognized names in the industry, including Juan Gabriel., Lucha Villa, Vicente Fernandez, Alejandro Fernandez, Rocio Durcal and Selena, among others.
