
The Laredo Community College Regional Police Academy hosted a graduation ceremony on Friday, December 17, to recognize 30 cadets who have completed the basic peace officer training program. The traditional ceremony was held in the Kazen College Center.
The “B-04” cadets who have graduated from the program are: Leonel R. Alvarez Jr., Ivan D. Brightwell, Federico J. Calderon, Billy Joe Eichler Jr., Gerardo Garza, Fernando Gonzalez, Jacqueline A. Gonzalez, Juan F. Gonzalez, Rodolfo Guerrero, Jesus E. Gutierrez, Fernando Herrera, Isaias Juarez, Francisco Lozano Jr., David A. Martinez, Jose F. Morales, Lucio O. Moya, Felix S. Nunez, Roel Pena Jr., Nerio Reyna, Abel Rodriguez III, Ricardo E. Rodríguez, Jorge Salazar, Marco A. Salinas, Jeannette N. Sanchez, Priscilla A. Smith, Homar A. Solis, Richard T. Sparks, Juan Manuel Tovar, Jose Antonio Velasco and Ricardo B. Walker.
In order to be admitted to the LCC Police Academy, participating cadets were sponsored by local and regional law enforcement agencies.
Three special awards will be presented during the graduation ceremonies, including the Highest Scholastic Award to David Martinez, the Top Gun Award to Fernando Herrera, and the Cadet Mentor Award to Federico Calderon.
The 18-week, 704 hour “basic” peace officer training program at LCC is comprised of rigorous physical training and study focusing on a variety of topics including the penal code, family violence, code of criminal procedures, firearms training, defensive tactics, emergency driving, patrol procedures and criminal investigating.
