
Students who want to get ahead this summer can choose from a variety of day, evening and distance education courses offered during Summer Session I at Laredo Community College. Registration for the first summer session is Thursday, May 27, in the Maravillo Gymnasium.
Academic transfer courses in biology, chemistry, English, math, government and history are available to jumpstart or advance degrees.
Vocational/technical training in computer science, criminal justice, electrical technology, nursing, allied health and industrial trades will also be offered to begin new careers or upgrade job skills.
For students seeking a fun and creative outlet to keep cool this summer, LCC will offer swimming, photography, basketball, dance fitness, water aerobics, jazz dancing, racquetball, power walking, weight training and much more.
“During the summer, Laredo Community College is offering a slate of courses guaranteed to please academically and career-minded students as well as those seeking some summertime fun,” said Felix Gamez, Director of Admissions and Records.
Registration will be conducted by alphabetical sequence according to the first letter of a student’s last name:
* 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.—C-F;
* 9:30 to 11 a.m.—G-K;
* 11 a.m-12 noon—L-P;
* 4-5 p.m.—Q-T; and
* 5-6 p.m.—U-Z, A-B.
Registration will be open to all students from 6 to 7 p.m. Students who registered early for Summer I via the OLÉ Web and Phone system may make changes to their class schedule at any time during the registration hours.
Late Registration for the first summer session will be on May 31 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. in the Maravillo Gymnasium. Class adds and drops may also be made during the late registration period.
Summer class schedules are available on the World Wide Web at www.laredo.edu and from the LCC Admissions/Registration Office in University Hall, room 125.
Summer Session I at LCC begins June 2 and ends July 3.
