University Transfer Day set for Thursday at LCC
Laredo Community College offers many opportunities for students to continue their college education at the university of their choice. LCC has established articulation agreements with a number of universities to ensure students a smooth transfer between schools.
College students who are interested in pursuing a four-year degree can explore educational opportunities during LCC's annual University Transfer Day on Thursday, October 28, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the Kazen College Center.
Recruiters from 25 major universities will be at the Kazen College Center from 9 to noon to meet with students who are considering a transfer to a four-year or upper-level institution. The event is hosted annually by the LCC Counseling Center.
"University Transfer Day reinforces an important goal of Laredo Community College to help students to achieve success in life," said LCC Counselor Lisa Gonzalez. "This event makes it easy and convenient for our transfer students to find out more about universities where they may complete their four year degree. It helps them become more fully informed before choosing the university where they will continue their education."
"Sometimes a little encouragement and information is all that's needed to motivate our two-year graduates to continue their education," adds Gonzalez.
Visiting university recruiters will provide students with information on transfer admissions, degree programs, financial assistance and scholarships, housing and other issues.
Among the higher education institutions that will participate are: Art Institute of Houston, Hardin-Simmons University, ITT Technical Institute, LCC-TAMIU Military Science program, Moorehead State University, Our Lady of the Lake University, Sam Houston State University, Sul Ross State University (Uvalde), Texas A&M International University, Texas A&M University at College Station, Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, Texas A&M University at Kingsville, Texas Lutheran University, Texas State Technical College-Corpus Christi, Texas State University-San Marcos, Texas Woman’s University, The University of the Incarnate Word, University of Houston-Main Campus, University of North Texas, University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, University of Texas-Pan American, University of Texas at San Antonio, University of Texas at Tyler and Warren Wilson College.
