Comic Troy Thirdgill to perform at LCC

National campus entertainer Troy Thirdgill will showcase his award-winning comedy act to Laredo Community College students on Thursday, April 1.

Sponsored by the LCC Student Advisory Board, the comedy show on April 1 will begin at 1 p.m. in the Kazen College Center.  Admission is free to students and the community.

Thirdgill launched his career in comedy in 1989.  In first year as comedian, Thirdgill won the Portland Oregon “Laugh Off.”  He continued to tour around the country performing at small clubs which led him to an audition in Los Angeles.

During his big break, the bus line lost his luggage, and he was forced to go onstage in the owner’s clothes, which happened to be three sizes smaller, four inches shorter...and made for a woman.

"I looked like a black Pee-Wee Herman," Thirdgill recalled.

The right people saw him that night and loved his show. He was signed to three developmental deals by Warner Brothers and the UPN channel. Since then, Thirdgill has co-starred in numerous television shows and has graced many stages with his comedy talents.

Thirdgill has had guest spots on TV hit shows “In The House” with LL Cool J, “In Living Color, and the popular “Beverly Hills 90210.  Most recently, he received the chance to star in his own UPN sitcom, "The Working Guy."

Today, Thirdgill is also active on the comedy circuit, touring all around the world to perform for audiences ranging from military troops to college students.

For more information about Thirdgill’s comedy show, contact the LCC Student Activities Office by calling 721-5179.  Office hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
