LCC to hold cheerleading tryouts
Laredo Community College students have opportunities to showcase their school spirit as members of the LCC Palomino cheerleading squad.
The group's sponsor Jennifer Keen invites female and male students interested in joining the student organization to join the squad. Two practice sessions prior to tryouts will be held on September 20 and 22 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Maravillo Gymnasium. Tryouts for cheerleaders and yell-leaders will be on Monday, September 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the Maravillo Gym.
The primary role of the Palomino cheer squad is to encourage school spirit in support of the college's athletic programs. During the fall, the group provides pep support at the Lady Palomino volleyball games. The squad is required to attend practices on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and all home volleyball matches.
In the spring, the cheerleaders support the Palomino baseball team. The LCC Palomino Cheerleaders have also represented the college during the Washington’s Birthday Parade and other special events.
