LCC debuts new community-based TV program Aug. 3

A new television program, produced by Laredo Community College, will debut on Tuesday, August 3, at 12 noon on Time Warner Cable, Channel 55.

The 30-minute TV program, dubbed “Community Building,” will be moderated by LCC President Dr. Ramon H. Dovalina.

Dovalina says that the inaugural episode of the community-centered TV program will address various issues relating to nursing, including student and faculty perspectives on the challenges and rewards of pursuing a nursing career, as well as discussion on the national nursing shortage affecting communities across America.

Among the guests in the talk show segment of the program are local physician/LCC trustee Dr. Leo G. Cigarroa Jr., Kristen Palmer of Laredo Medical Center, Carlos Diaz and Annette Segovia of Doctors Hospital, plus LCC Dean of Health Sciences Dianna Miller.

The TV show will also feature interviews of nursing students and footage of the students engaged in clinical training at local hospitals.

The program will be shown this week on LCC TV (Cable 55) on August 3, 5 and 7 at 12 noon, 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

As part of a continuing series related to higher education and its impact on community, the LCC TV program will also address teacher preparation and law enforcement in future episodes.
