
Laredo
Community College and Doctors Hospital invite Laredoans of all ages to follow
the road to wellness during the fourth annual Wellness Fair on Friday, February
27.
The
event will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. in the LCC Maravillo Gymnasium.
Admission is free and open to the campus body and the public.
“Last
year’s Wellness Fair was a huge success,” said LCC Wellness Program
Coordinator Lu Sparkman. “Hundreds
of students and community took advantage of the free health and wellness
services available at the Wellness Fair at LCC.”
The
Health Fair will provide participants with an array of free medical and health
services, including glucose (sugar), cholesterol, blood pressure, depression,
sleep evaluations, height/weight, body fat measurements, computerized wellness
assessments and asthma screenings. Individuals
who plan to take the cholesterol and glucose screenings must fast at least 8
hours prior to the screenings.
Representatives
from different community service organizations will host exhibits and distribute
free literature and giveaways, including the American Red Cross, American Cancer
Society, Blakey Medical Supply, Border Region MHMR, City of Laredo Health
Department, Galo Optical, LCC instructional departments (including Nursing,
Allied Health, Wellness and Science), Muscular Dystrophy Association, March of
Dimes, Rodriguez Pharmacy, Texas Organ Sharing Alliance, STACADA, Doctors
Hospital medical departments, and many more.
There will also be wellness giveaways, door prizes, and free healthy
snacks and beverages.

The LCC/Doctors Hospital Wellness Fair is set for Feb. 28 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Maravillo Gymnasium.
