to host Young Artists Solo Recital, Sunday
Young Laredo musicians will showcase their budding talents at Laredo Community College during the first Young Artists Solo Recital on Sunday, February 22.
The LCC Music and Dance Department and the LCC Music Club, in conjunction with United Independent School District, will present the Young Artists Solo Recital on Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. at the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center theater on the LCC campus. Admission is free of charge to family and friends of the talented musicians, as well as the public.
United MIddle School Music Director Joe David Compeán and LCC Chamber Ensemble Director Brendan Townsend will showcase the talents of their outstanding UISD student-musicians, says Hacel Arias, president of the LCC Music Club, which is the event sponsor.
“The LCC Music Club is honored to host this recital in the new theater of the LCC Martinez Fine Arts Center and recognize the talents of Laredo’s aspiring student-musicians,” notes Arias.
Student soloists taught by Compeán include: Hyunji Lee, 8th grader, who will perform Concerto for Violin and piano by Accolay, George Yang, 5th grader, who will perform Concerto in D Major for Violin by Seitz, and Martha Reyes, 7th grader, who will perform Gavotte for violin by Gossec. Others performing in the recital include Jennifer Arias, 6th grade, performing Bouree for Violin; Amber Montemayor, 8th grade, performing Minuet No.2 for Violin by J.S. Bach; Lynn Yang, 4th grade, performing Gavotte for Violin by Gossec; Ricardo Ramirez, 9th Grade, performing Concerto in A minor for Violin by A.Vivaldi; Humberto Salazar, 6th grade, performing Maiden’s Wish for String Bass by Chopin; Christopher Rodriguez, 8th grade, performing Concerto in A minor for Violin by A. Vivaldi, and Doris Yang, 7th grade, performing Concerto No.2 for Violin by Seitz.
Grace Yang, 6th grade student of Townsend, will perform Minuet No.3 for Cello by J.S. Bach.
In addition to string solos, some of the scheduled performers will showcase their talents on the piano, as well. The recital will conclude with the United Middle School Orchestra's performance of chamber music works by Mozart and Haydn.
