Laredo College is once again elevating our city’s name and prestige after
recently earning eight awards at a prominent regional conference.
The Laredo College Community & Media Relations Office received eight
Medallion Awards from the Region 4 National Council for Marketing and Public
Relations Awards (NCMPR). The awards recognize outstanding achievement in
design and communication at community and technical colleges in each
of NCMPR’s seven districts. The regional competition is exclusive to
marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges.
The college competed with some of the most respected and effective
marketing and public relations offices from other two-year colleges in Texas,
Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Wyoming.
Community and Media Relations Director Obed Guerrero said the awards were
indicative of the outstanding work his office has generated in the past year.
“These awards place us as one of the top communication teams in the
nation,” he said. “We’re proud to bring back these accolades, which will be
added to the long list of recognitions and distinctions our beloved college has
garnered in recent years.”
The winning categories included video shorts (bronze and silver),
computer-generated illustration (bronze), folder (silver), radio advertisement
– single or series (silver and gold), college promotional brand video (gold)
and social media or online marketing campaign (gold).
After a recent image makeover, logo unveiling and a name change, the
college has cultivated a reputation for excellence across all sectors. With an
aggressive and targeted marketing campaign, LC has a goal of showcasing the
benefits and advantages of a community college education.
The communication plan includes a strong emphasis on Laredo College’s
award-winning programs and certifications, affordable tuition, high-quality
instruction and the benefits of a debt-free college career.
Additionally, all campaigns are crafted with a common theme that connects
the overall message: Change your life at Laredo College!
