Laredo College earns outstanding review

 LC seal

The Laredo College district has undergone a primary credit analysis to ensure financial stability and flexibility to its institution. We are proud to inform the community that we have obtained an outstanding review in all areas of our institution.

Standard and Poor’s Financial Services LLC (S&P) is an American financial service company that provides high-quality market intelligence in the form of credit ratings, research and thought leadership. The company issues long-term and short-term credit ratings for debt of public and private companies.

S&P has affirmed that LC has an AA-/stable long-term outlook rating and AA-(SPUR)/stable unenhanced rating. This can be translated as LC being competent to meet its financial commitments.

Some of the areas that were evaluated were the community that our college services, the economy of the city, enrollment, finances, governing board, management and debt.

The company has also reviewed annual fiscal performances since 2013 and our institution has been consistently evaluated as having strong operational management with a demonstrated ability to budget conservatively.

These ratings also reflect the college district’s growing economy on the United States-Mexico border, evidenced by assessed value, experienced senior management with standardized financial policies and growing enrollment.

As stated by S&P, “The stable outlook reflects S&P Global Ratings’ opinion that during the two-year outlook period, full-accrual financial operations will likely remain positive and the district will likely maintain financial resource ratios at current levels. Therefore, we do not expect to change the rating during the outlook period.”
