LC invites the community for a delightful jazz concert

 Don Linke

The community will have the opportunity to attend a delightful jazz guitar concert on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Private David B. Barkeley Cantu Veterans Memorial Chapel located at the LC Ft. McIntosh Campus.

Don Linke, a professional musician and former university instructor, will play the most beautiful melodies to later be joined as a second on bass by Dr. Kevin Lindberg.

“I am thrilled to bring him here,” said Dr. Matthew Bishop, music/guitar instructor. “Seeing jazz improvised live is really moving and it’s a great to have such an artist in Laredo,”

Dr. Lindberg is the Associate Provost/Director of Community Engagement and PROF Center at Texas A&M International University. He is also an experienced jazz bassist that has previously collaborated with LC Musician Dr. Bishop.

A master class will also be offered by Linke completely free of charge on Sunday, March 1 at 12 p.m. He will be sharing his experiences, how others can pursue the same dream, strategies to succeed in the industry and other mentoring tips.

Musicians, music students and jazz enthusiasts will benefit greatly from this workshop. Our college is thrilled to be one of the few to offer such an educational and inspiring workshop opportunity for the community.

We invite the community not to miss this awaited live concert and for musicians to take advantage of the workshops offered.
