ONLINE STUDENT = ATTENDANCE=20 GUIDELINES

Responsibility for class attendance rests = with the=20 student.

Students are = required to log=20 in and participate in their respective online classes to remain = enrolled.=20 Students will be dropped from the class roster by the instructor = according to=20 College Attendance Regulations; however, a student may be reinstated by = the=20 Vice-President of Instruction upon the recommendation of the = instructor(s) and=20 an agreement from the student to make up all of the missed assignments, = lab=20 times and/or tests. =20

Students will be dropped after = being=20 absent:

During a regular=20 semester:=20

a. =20 Students=20 will be dropped with a =93W=94 for Unexcused absences - = failure to=20 log-in to the course for 14 consecutive days.

b. =20 A grade of = "W" will be=20 given through the Friday of the twelfth week of the semester for all = drops=20 initiated by the instructor or by the student.

c. =20 After the = Friday of the=20 twelfth week of the semester, a grade of "F" will be given for the = course at the=20 end of the semester for unexcused absence.

d. =20 The=20 instructor will drop an online student if they have never logged-in to = their=20 course prior to the certifying the rolls =96 on the 12^th = Class=20 Day.

During a=20 summer session:

a.Students will be=20 dropped with a =93W=94 for Unexcused absences - failure to = log-in to=20 the course for 7 consecutive days.

b. =20 A grade of = "W" will be=20 given through the Thursday of the fourth week of the summer session for = all=20 drops initiated by the instructor or by the student.

c. =20 After the = official drop=20 date of the fourth week of the summer session, a grade of "F" will be = given for=20 the course at the end of the session for unexcused absence.

d. =20 The=20 instructor will drop an online student if they have never logged-in to = their=20 course prior to certifying the rolls =96 on the 4^th Class=20 Day.

Students=20 have the right to initiate a drop request from any or all classes by = informing=20 the instructor via email or phone and following this up at the=20 Admissions/Registrar=92s Office.

Instructors will drop = students in a=20 timely manner according to the College's attendance policy in order to = comply=20 with the requirements of external funding agencies. It is the student's = responsibility to=20 ensure that a drop slip be completed, whether it is student-requested or = faculty-initiated.

Absence from Final=20 Examination: A=20 student who is absent from a final examination will earn a grade of "0" = for the=20 examination. Students who do not take a final examination will earn an = "F" in=20 the course, unless they present an authorization for the absence. = Students duly authorized not to take the final examination will receive = a grade=20 of "F=94 or an Incomplete grade on their transcript until they take the = final=20 examination. Such students must take the final within four months of the = initial=20 exam date. A fee of $5.00 will be charged to a student for taking = a final=20 examination other than at the scheduled time, regardless of = the reason=20 for absence. This fee will be paid at the Bursar=92s Office. Only = students=20 with a legitimate excuse may exercise this = privilege.
