Laredo Community College is a comprehensive community college dedicated to meeting the
needs of students and of the community. Its goals can be accomplished most efficiently and
effectively, however, when all employees understand the policies adopted by the Board of
Trustees, for these are the basis of the daily operating procedures followed by personnel
as they strive to serve the students and the community.
The purpose of this manual, then, is to communicate policies adopted by the Board of
Trustees to College personnel, including personnel assigned to the College by outside
agencies. These policies will govern all employees in their dealings with College
colleagues and with visitors to the campus.
The Laredo Community College Policy Manual is the product of all employees.
Representatives from all areas of the College worked together in collecting information,
developing content, and reviewing the manuscript at all stages of development. Their
cooperative efforts led to this instrument designed to promote understanding of College
policies among personnel and to serve as a basis for procedures handbooks.
This manual contains information regarding the College's employee benefits, personnel
policies, and work procedures. The contents of this manual are presented as a matter of
information only. While we believe wholeheartedly in the plans and policies described,
there may be a need to change policies to accommodate changes in the College; therefore,
the following rules are subject to change without prior notice. Any suggestions you may
have for changes in the policy set forth in this manual are welcome. This manual does not
constitute a contract.
