March
30 Installment Plan Payment Deadline Extended
Laredo
College will be waiving late payment fees for students who have an installment
plan payment due on March 30, 2020. The installment plan payment deadline
scheduled for March 30, 2020 will now be extended for an additional 15 days.
Students can log in to PASPort at https://pasport.laredo.edu
to view your account balance and make payments.
Students
who have additional questions regarding their installment plans should contact
the Laredo College Bursar’s Office at bursaroffice@laredo.edu.
- Physical access to library and computer labs will be unavailable until further notice.
- Virtual library resources are available at https://library.laredo.edu
- Required testing for Laredo College courses will be available by appointment only for current students unable to test remotely until further notice. For appointments, please e-mail LEC@laredo.edu.
- As previously announced, Laredo College will
extend spring break for one additional week from March 23, 2020 through March
28, 2020.
- All instructional courses will be converted into
an online format beginning March 30, 2020. Students in courses that are unable
to be converted to online formats will be provided further instructions by
their instructor.
- Any services provided on campus will include the
implementation of current City of Laredo guidelines.
- Presently, graduation will be postponed. More information
will be forthcoming.
- Students are asked to continue to follow
guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and
the City of Laredo Health Department.
Laredo
College employees:
- Laredo College will have limited staff returning
to campus to complete essential processes and training on March 23, 2020.
- All current employees of Laredo College can rest
assured that they will continue to receive their regular pay as scheduled.
- All Laredo College travel will be suspended
until further notice.
- Employees are asked to continue to follow
guidelines provided by the CDC and the City of Laredo Health Department.
Laredo community:
- All events in March, April, and May 2020 that
were scheduled to be held at Laredo College are being postponed until further
notice.
Coronavirus
Laredo College (LC) is monitoring national, state, and local developments of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Currently, there are no known cases among LC students, faculty, and staff. Health officials highly recommend that students, as well as faculty, staff, and the general public, continue to practice preventive actions as flu season hits its peak.

Laredo College tackles Coronavirus concerns head on
As everyone in the community is
aware, our understanding of the threat of COVID-19 continues to develop. Our
Laredo College community continues to prioritize the health and safety of all
students, employees and community members. It is important to note that the
primary goal at this time is to minimize the risk of spreading the COVID-19
virus by reducing the amount of interaction between groups.
With utmost consideration of this
evolving situation, and due to the most recent developments regarding the
coronavirus, Laredo College will continue to take all necessary precautions and
adhere to all declarations and recommendations communicated by local, state and
federal agencies. College officials will continue to monitor and respond to
this developing situation.
As of March 18, 2020, the
following measures will be taken:

The overall health and well-being of the community continues to be the
top priority for Laredo College. We continue to closely monitor the
COVID-19 situation and are committed to responding to our community members’
needs as they arise.
“At the moment, our top priority
is the well-being of the entire Laredo community,” Laredo College President Dr.
Ricardo J. Solis said. “All LC departments are working together, alongside all
of our local and regional partners, to prepare and take any necessary steps to
ensure that everybody is safe and informed about the preventative actions to
deal with the evolving coronavirus situation.”
After careful consideration
of this continuously evolving situation, and as a result of the most recent
local developments pertaining to concerns regarding the coronavirus, Laredo
College administrators have adopted a plan developed to
respond to this current situation.
The Laredo College course
of action, as of March 12, 2020, includes the following measures:
- Spring
break, currently scheduled for March 16-20, will be extended for one additional
week for students. Spring break for students will now be observed from March
16-28.
- Beginning
the week of March 23-27, Laredo College offices and services will resume normal
business hours of Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m.
to 12 p.m. for all employees, faculty and staff.
Laredo College will be suspending instruction for the week
of March 23-28 in order to provide professional development for faculty and
staff to deploy online instruction should it be necessary going forward. This
will include all face-to-face, online, hybrid, video conferencing, dual
enrollment, adult education and continuing education courses.

- Laredo College’s Emergency Management team is monitoring the evolving situation. LC is coordinating closely with local and state health and public safety agencies, as well as local government, schools, and universities.
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the following preventive measures to help reduce the spread of the flu and other viruses:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and discard it in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are frequently touched.

- On the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control, we have reminded anyone who begins experiencing fever, cough, or difficulty breathing to contact their primary healthcare provider and remain home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without the aid of medication.
- The college is monitoring CDC travel alerts. Based on the current travel warnings of the CDC (level 3 - avoid nonessential travel warning) and U.S. Department of State (level 3 - reconsider travel). The college is prepared to make additional adjustments to college-related travel as circumstances warrant.
