What is Canvas?
Canvas is the Learning Management System used by Laredo College to host all face-to-face, online, hybrid, and video-conference courses. After you register, you will have access to your courses in Canvas on the first class day of the semester. You will access your courses in Canvas by logging into PASPort, your student portal. Help with PASPort is available through the PASPort Help Desk.
IMPORTANT: Never provide your PASPort username or password to anyone, and always remember to log out of your PASPort and Canvas accounts.
Canvas Course Orientation
The Canvas Course Orientation is open to all current and prospective students, and covers topics on how to navigate and log into your course, how to customize your account, how to complete assignments and tests, and more.
Virtual Backpack Orientation - An orientation course for first-time online students
All students have had the experience of loading a backpack for the first day of school with pencils, notepads, campus maps, schedules, and other essential tools. Online classes are a little different than what students might experience on campus, and successful online students still need their own set of tools to help them in their classes. The Virtual Backpack helps students to understand their online classes and virtual classroom and provides everything they need to start their virtual learning experience on the right foot.
*If you are taking an online course for the first time, you will receive an email invitation to the Virtual Backpack one week before classes start.
