Professional Truck Driver
CVOP 1013: Develop and learn the necessary skills to successfully earn a State of Texas Class A Commercial License. Includes preparation for the mastery of the CDL written examination, general truck driving skills with a hands-on component, preparation to earn endorsements including: HazMat, Tankers, Doubles & Triples. All instruction is coordinated with the Texas Department of Transportation and Texas Department of Public Safety. Prior to registering for the class, it is strongly recommended that all applicants visit with the Workforce Coordinator for advisement at Room 126 at the AAC Building located at the LCC South Campus. Applicants must show proof of being 18 years of age or older, possess a valid Class C Texas Driver License, must be legal permanent residents or citizens of the United States of America and must be able to communicate in English with the DPS Examiner the day of the driving test. Students are required to take a criminal background check, drug screening and DOT physical exam prior to taking any TXDPS exam, including the temporary driving permit. This program is ONLY offered at LCC’s South Campus; to inquire call 794-4520. *Tuition assistance may be provided to qualifiers through the Workforce Solutions for South Texas (WSST). Students must register first prior to approaching the WSST for assistance.
Substitute Teacher Academy for Readiness (STAR) Training
EDTC 1002: In this course, you will learn to identify the student’s needs, behavior modifications and classroom management. You also will learn the different teaching methodologies, and mandated state standards needed to enhance positive growth and the development of students. Recommended follow-up course: EMSP1020

Pharmacy Technician Program
PHRA 1013: The Pharmacy Technician Program is designed to prepare the participant for eligibility to become a Pharmacy Technician. In addition, students will be qualified to apply for certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and other similar certification examinations, meeting the training requirements of the State Board of Pharmacy. Students will learn topics essential to the delivery of service, including assisting the Pharmacist in serving patients, receiving and screening prescription/medication orders for completeness and authenticity, preparing medications for distribution, compounding a prescription/medication order and controlling the inventory of medications, equipment, and devices according to an established plan. Students must be at least 18 years or older, and possess a high school diploma or GED. Strong math skills are recommended. The cost of the state board exam ($129) is an out-of-pocket expense not covered by the tuition amount. *Tuition assistance may be provided to qualifiers via Workforce Solutions for South Texas (WSST). Student must register for the course first prior to approaching the WSST.
Dental Assisting Program
DNTA 1053: The Dental Assisting Program (DAP) prepares students for entry-level positions in one of the fastest growing health care occupations – Dental Assisting. Students will learn dental assisting techniques with the emphasis on four-handed dentistry and utilization of tray setups for general practice and specialty procedures. Upon successful completion of program training, students will receive a certificate of completion from the Continuing Education Department, will earn CPR certification from the American Heart Association and will be authorized to take the Dental Assistant state certification exam from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. Clinical rotations are scheduled throughout the tenure of the program including Saturdays. Students must be at least 18 years or older and possess a high school diploma or GED. Class meets on Tuesday/Thursday with 4 X Saturday classes during the tenure of the program (See Below). “Out of pocket” expenses not covered by the tuition: uniform ($25), state board exam ($65) and criminal background check. *Tuition assistance may be provided to qualifiers through the Workforce Solutions for South Texas (WSST). Students must register for the course first prior to approaching the WSST.
Food Manager Protection Certification
RSTO1041: This course is the 16-hour certification program for owners and operators of establishments which prepare and serve food to the public. Upon successful completion of this course and passing the exam, the student will receive a ServSafe certificate which is valid for 5 years. Prerequisite: Students must have a minimum 7th grade reading level.
Introduction to Forklift Operations
OSHT1010: This course is designed for the beginner forklift operator. The focus is on efficient and safe lift truck operations and the OSHA training requirements for powered industrial trucks. If you have less than 6 months experience, this course is required before enrolling in CNSE1003.
Forklift Operator Certification
CNSE1003: This course is designed to meet OSHA training requirements [29 CFR 1910.178(I)(1)] for the experienced forklift operator. Forklift instruction and hands-on training includes: maneuvering, stability, truck design, instrumentation, controls, accessories, pre-use inspection, warehouse safety, written exam, and a driving proficiency exam. Students are required to have a minimum of 6 months experience or have completed OSHT1010 prior to enrolling in this course. A Forklift Operator License that is valid for 3 years will be issued upon successful completion.
