The Laredo College Economic Development Center's (EDC) mission is to enhance the economic growth and global competitiveness of Laredo and the South Texas region through high quality education, training, and services focusing on continuous workforce improvement, technology deployment, and business development. To carry out this mission, the EDC has developed partnerships with individual businesses, industry associations, community colleges, community-based organizations, and local governments.

Currently, the EDC is working on several key projects. They include: implementing a workplace literacy initiative to provide English language and job readiness skills to the community; providing skills development training, offering a series of workshops aimed at building attendees' effectiveness in the workplace; preparing educationally disadvantaged, unemployed, and underemployed adults for career-path employment and post-secondary education in high-demand jobs including the import/export industry; and providing resources and support to area entrepreneurs.

The Economic Development Center continuously seeks opportunities to meet industry needs and help the community. We invite you to contact us about how we might be of assistance.
