LC PTA Program graduates achieve impressive 100% pass rate in national exam

The graduates of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Laredo College have once again achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the national licensure exam. Fifteen students sat for the National Physical Therapy Examination for Physical Therapist Assistants on July 9, 2019 and successfully passed the licensure exam.

The LC PTA Program has achieved a 100% first-time pass rate for seven of the last eight years. LC students in the PTA Program have celebrated this accomplishment every year from 2012 to 2019 with the exception of the year 2015.

“This is a wonderful achievement and we are very proud of our graduates,” said Dr. Esmeralda Vargas, PTA Program director and instructor. “This outcome reflects the hard work of both the students and dedicated PTA Program faculty.”

Faculty members include Dr. Vargas, Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education/PTA Instructor Yolanda Guzman and PTA Instructor Jacqueline Torres.

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at LC was established in 1985 to meet the healthcare needs of the community and the region. The PTA Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. For more information about the PTA Program, contact the Allied Health Department at (956) 721-5262.
