Laredo College Community and Media Relations Office brings home 11 prestigious awards

The Laredo College Community and Media Relations Office is once again making history after recently winning a record-breaking 11 awards at a prominent regional conference.

The marketing and public relations team at Laredo College received 11 Medallion Awards at the Region 4 National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) virtual awards ceremony. These distinguished accolades recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges in each of NCMPR’s seven districts. The regional competition is exclusive to marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges.

The college competed with some of the most esteemed and successful marketing and public relations offices from other two-year colleges in Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Wyoming. The winning categories were among some of the most competitive ones with numerous entries submitted.

Laredo College President Dr. Ricardo J. Solis commended the team for continuously showcasing the transformational impact the college has on the lives of students and the community-at-large.

“I am proud of our exceptional marketing and public relations professionals at the Community and Media Relations Office,” he said. “These awards are a testament to their outstanding work. In great part thanks to their impeccable and tireless work, we are positioned as one of the top colleges in the nation and continue to be at the forefront of academic innovation and excellence.”

With an aggressive and targeted marketing and public relations campaign, the office strives to showcase the benefits and advantages of pursuing a higher education degree or certificate at Laredo College. The communication plan includes a strong emphasis on the college’s award-winning short-term programs and certifications, affordable tuition, high-quality instruction and the benefits of a debt-free college career.

Community and Media Relations Director Obed Guerrero attributed this success to his hard-working and talented team. He also thanked President Solis, the Laredo College Board of Trustees, South Campus Dean Carolyn Schmies, Senior Director of Strategic and External Initiatives Michael Gonzalez and the hundreds of men and women who are part of our college community for their support.

“I cannot emphasize this enough – our work as a dynamic and diverse team is what has made our triumphs and accomplishments possible,” the director said. “Our office is here to highlight all the positive and life-changing projects, initiatives and programs offered at Laredo College. Our institution is a beacon of hope in our community and we are honored to share this with the world and continue focusing on improving the lives of people in our community through education and workforce development.”
