“Our mission is to ensure that
our students, employees and our community are safer each day,” LC Safety and
Risk Manager Javier Cano said. “Vaccination is one of the several efforts we
can accomplish as a community to protect the lives of the many people we love,
support and live with.”
While a significant number of
adults are vaccinated, many teens have not yet obtained the opportunity to be
protected against COVID-19. Therefore, Laredo College has established a pathway
for qualifying students to receive a free vaccine.
Due to the increase of on-campus
instruction and hybrid courses, LC is implementing vaccine availability to keep
everyone safe as we continue helping students excel academically. Our
institution will offer free Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer vaccines
for students, employees and the public. Everyone will have access to these
vaccines in June and July through a partnership with Curative.
Anybody over the age of 18
interested in having this virus protection administered can set up an
appointment or stop by either campus. On June 9, 16 and 23, and July 7, 14, and
21, Curative clinics will have the COVID-19 vaccine available at the Ft.
McIntosh Campus Kazen Student Center. On June 30 and July 28, Curative professionals
will be administering the vaccine at the South Campus in Billy Hall Student
Center, first floor. The clinics will be accepting walk-ins from 12 p.m. to 4
p.m. on the mentioned dates as well.
The institution’s goal is to
protect our student body as well as our employees. The continuous efforts to
stop the spread of this deadly virus do not stop at continuously disinfecting,
maintaining a safe distance, using face coverings and limiting capacity at each
building. We highly encourage students returning to campus for the summer or
fall semesters to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to be protected
against the COVID-19 virus.
