Laredo College is a pacesetter in
nursing education across South Texas and around the nation. On Thursday, May
12, the college announced at a press conference that the Associate Degree in
Nursing (ADN) Program has once again been ranked as the #1 nursing program in
Texas for a fifth consecutive year.
This year, Laredo College took
the top spot in the “2022 Best Nursing Schools (ADN) in Texas” list released by
RNCareers.org and tied #1 in the “2022 Best Nursing Schools (BSN & ADN) in
Texas” list by RegisteredNursing.org. Also, it was #1 in the “10 Best Nursing
Schools in Texas Offering ADN Programs in 2022” list published by
NursingProcess.org. The college is proud to continue being at the forefront of
healthcare education and being consistently ranked at the top of multiple lists
showcasing the rigorous, high academic standards students in the different
nursing programs are expected to meet.
“Laredo College is honored to
continue its legacy of nursing excellence by once again being ranked the top
nursing program in Texas,” LC Board of Trustees President Lupita Zepeda said.
“The enduring success of all the nursing programs at Laredo College is thanks
to the hard work of Dean of Health Sciences/Nursing Programs Director Dr.
Dianna Miller, Laredo College nursing faculty, staff and students.”
The RNCareers.org website states
that out of 103 nursing schools in Texas, the nursing program at Laredo College
ranks #1 in the state and #1 at the national level out of more than 1,700
nursing programs. It adds that the program’s three-year average NCLEX-RN
passing rate is 100%, giving LC an overall grade of A.
RegisteredNursing.org notes that
“Laredo College educates tomorrow’s nurses through a traditional ADN and an ADN
transition program geared toward LVNs and other medical personnel looking to
enter registered nursing,” the nursing website states. “These programs prepare
students to provide direct patient care in a variety of healthcare settings.”
Moreover, NursingProcess.org
selected their top 10 picks for the best nursing schools in the state that
offer ADN Programs by analyzing 134 nursing schools approved by the Texas Board
of Nursing. The website used a ranking methodology that primarily focused on
four broad areas–academic quality, NCLEX-RN exam performance, affordability and
the school’s overall reputation.
The COVID-19 pandemic
fundamentally changed the healthcare industry in our nation, and the dire need
for more qualified nursing professionals is more evident than ever before. With
this substantial increase in demand, Laredo College is proud to continue its
legacy of training new generations of healthcare professionals through its
multiple award-winning nursing programs, which have again garnered the stellar
ranking of top nursing program in Texas.
For the past four years, the
Laredo College nursing programs have showcased nursing excellence and high
academic standards, translating into hundreds of new nursing professionals
entering the workforce each year.
The celebration of this
achievement happened during National Nurses Week, a weeklong observance in
which Laredo College recognized and celebrated the invaluable work of nurses in
our community and throughout the nation. The college looks forward to continuing
its collaboration with area school districts to foster a healthcare career
pathway that supports high-demand, high-skilled jobs.
